A team of homicide detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have revisited the house belonging to Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, main suspect linked to bodies found dumped at Kware in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, and recovered blood-stained items.
In a statement on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, John Marete, Director-Liason and Corporate Communications at DCI, noted that the detectives visited the said house in Mukuru Kwa Njenga.
During the visit, the homicide detectives recovered a pillowcase with noticeable bloodstains, a blood-stained t-shirt, a blood-stained hammer, a blood-stained pair of pliers, three knives, one with bloodstains, and a blood-stained pair of scissors.
The detectives are expected to use the evidence gathered to build a watertight case against Collins Jumaisi Khalusha.
“Investigations are still ongoing and the suspect’s house and the dumping site remain active crime scenes,” part of DCI’s statement read.
“On this International Day of Criminal Justice, the DCI wants to reassure all Kenyans of its unwavering commitment to conducting prompt, impartial, effective and thorough investigations into the Mukuru kwa Njenga murders by observing the highest standards of professional ethics. Our commitment is to protect the right to life, advance justice, and ensure accountability,” it added.
Collins decries being molested
While appearing at the Makadara Law Courts on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Jumaisi stated that he was tortured into making the confession that he murdered the women, while pleading with the court to grant him access to medical care.
Through his lawyer John Maina Ndegwa he told the court that he is in dire need of medical attendance.
“My client, as he sits there, is in dire need of urgent medical attention…for reasons that the period under detention, he was subjected to molestation, torture and the confession that the public is being treated to having murdered 42 persons is laughable,” argued Ndegwa before the Makadara Law Courts.
More suspects arraigned
Besides Jumaisi, two more suspects were presented in court on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. The duo was arrested for handling a phone belonging to one of the Kware murder victims, Roselyn Akoth Ogongo.
The Makadara Law Courts granted the investigators 28 days’ custodial orders to allow them to complete their investigations.
