Elsa Majimbo opens up about endless compliments on her looks

Kenyan-born content creator and chess champion Elsa Majimbo has boasted about how often people compliment her beauty, but admits the praise can sometimes feel insincere and even unsettling.
In a video shared on her TikTok page on Monday, May 19, 2025, the outspoken content creator addressed the attention she often receives for her appearance and how it does not always feel flattering.
“People always compliment me on how beautiful I am. But sometimes I think they are making fun of me. I swear I am not fishing for compliments. I know I am beautiful, gorgeous,” she said.
Despite her confidence, Majimbo admitted that the constant praise often feels excessive and, at times, unsettling. She described a particular encounter while dining with a friend outside a café in her neighbourhood. According to Majimbo, nearly every passerby stopped to compliment her looks.
“Everyone who was passing was like, ‘ooh my God, you are super beautiful. And my friend was like, ‘I think you are pretty too, but I think your neighbourhood is a bit racist,” she shared.

Living in a mostly white area, she said that the way people react to her appearance is less about genuine admiration and more about exoticising her for being different.
“You know, a Black girl having a bob haircut in a predominantly Black neighbourhood is nothing new. But in a white area, it’s different. They will be like, ‘that is a unicorn, there she is, oh my God, you are so beautiful.’ It makes me uncomfortable sometimes,” the US-based content creator stated.
Humility
Back in 2023, the unapologetic content creator made it clear that humility is not something she identifies with. She explained that the so-called humble version of herself only existed because she lacked financial freedom.
Majimbo shared that her modest demeanour in the past was not genuine but rather a result of her limited financial situation.
“I have seen a lot of comments saying how money has changed me so much. Of course, it has!… Are you joking? I was never humble, I was a victim of circumstances. Do you know the difference?” she quipped.
Adding;
“What happened to the old Elsa… she got her money up. My net worth went through the roof. My style changed. I’m rich now, even the laughter is rich.”
