Decomposing body found in parked car in Chuka Town
By Nancy Marende, September 29, 2025Residents of Chuka Town were left in shock after police discovered the decomposing body of a man inside his parked car.
Confirming the incident on Monday, September 29, 2025, Chuka North Sub-County Police Commander Paul Kuria said the body was discovered after residents raised concerns about a vehicle that had been locked and stationary for several days.

He revealed that upon closer inspection, they noticed a man inside and alerted authorities.
“Tumepata mtu mmoja ambaye alikuwa amefariki akiwa ndani ya gari lake. Huyu mtu tumeulizia familia tukapata ya kwamba alionekana mara ya mwisho Friday, September 26, 2025.Vile alitoka nyumbani, familia yake hawakuwa wanajua ako wapi,” he said.
Additionally, he disclosed that police managed to open the vehicle and confirmed the man was already dead.

His identity has been withheld until the family is officially notified.
“Tumeweza kufungua hiyo gari na tukapata mwili ya huyo marehemu , ambaye sitaweza kutaja jina yake mpaka tuwasiliane na familia.”
Inside the car, officers found two charcoal jikos that appeared to have been lit, but had since burnt out.
Commander Kuria noted that investigators are yet to establish the exact cause of death, though the presence of the jikos has raised questions about possible carbon monoxide poisoning.
“Ndani ya hiyo gari tumepata jiko mbili ambaye inakaa zilikuwa zimewakishwa makaa mpaka ikaisha. Hatujajua kiini hasa ambacho kilisababisha hiyo kisanga, but tuko na officers wa DCIO na kesi itachunguzwa,” he explained.
Kuria described the incident as deeply saddening and urged members of the public to seek help when facing challenges instead of resorting to drastic actions.
“Ni jambo la kuhuzunisha mtu kupatika amejufa hapo. Tunaomba wananchi kama mtu ako na shida ni vizuri kujadiliana na familia ama kutafuta professional counsellors ambao wanaweza kusaidia. Hakuna shida ambayo haiwezi tatuliwa kuliko kupoteza watu kwa njia isiyoeleweka,” he said.
The body was taken to Chuka General Hospital mortuary as investigations continue.
