3 arrested in possession of drugs in Watamu
By Nancy Marende, July 22, 2025Police officers arrested three persons of interest in possession of drugs following a tip-off from members of the public in the Timboroni area in Watamu.
In a statement on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, the three persons of interest were found in a house belonging to them on Monday, July 21, 2025.
Upon a search of their premises, police recovered 14 sachets of heroin, approximately 100 grams of cannabis sativa, three syringes, 15 plastic packaging sheets, and three sterilised alcohol pads, among other paraphernalia.
“The suspects were found inside a house belonging to one of them. A search of the premises led to the recovery of various items, including 14 sachets of heroin, approximately 100 grams of cannabis sativa, three syringes, 15 plastic packaging sheets, and three sterilised alcohol pads, among other paraphernalia,” read the statement.
According to NPS, further investigations revealed a spent cartridge and a ledger containing firearm sketches.
“The three persons of interest were placed in police custody pending their arraignment.”
The NPS commended the public for their vigilance and the information they provided, which made the operation successful.
“The National Police Service commends members of the public for their vigilance and cooperation, which were instrumental in the success of this operation. The Service reiterates its commitment to fostering such partnerships in the fight against crime and reaffirms its dedication to ensuring a safe and drug-free society,” the statement read.

Kilifi
This comes a few days after police in Kilifi arrested a person of interest found in possession of 11 sachets of a substance believed to be heroin, following a public tip-off.
In a statement released on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the NPS reported that officers from Kilifi Police Station received intelligence from concerned members of the public regarding suspicious drug-related activity in the Kibaoni area of Kilifi North Sub-County.
Acting swiftly on the information, the officers launched an operation and laid an ambush in the area.
“Upon searching, the officers recovered a nylon packet containing eleven (11) sachets of a substance suspected to be heroin, along with Ksh800 believed to be proceeds from the illicit trade,” read the statement in part.
