2 persons of interest linked to crimes in Embakasi and Kikuyu arrested

National Police Service (NPS) officers have arrested two persons of interest linked to a series of crimes in Embakasi, Nairobi County, and Kikuyu in Kiambu County.

NPS, in a statement issued via social media on Friday, May 30, 2025, said that the two, Kelvin Kasyoki Kyalo and Wilson Ngethe Waweru, were apprehended following a well-coordinated operation.

The police say the duo are suspected of orchestrating a series of crimes across the Nairobi and Kiambu counties.

“In a well-coordinated operation, National Police Service officers today, 30 May 2025, apprehended two notorious criminals, Kelvin Kasyoki Kyalo and Wilson Ngethe Waweru, who are suspected of orchestrating a series of crimes in Embakasi and Kikuyu,” the police stated.

The persons of interest are said to have been ambushed by the detectives at their hideout in Thogoto while inside a Mazda CX-5 motor vehicle that was bearing fake registration number plates.

Master keys recovered

Upon conducting a search in the vehicle, police say they recovered master keys for car locks, crude weapons for housebreaking, number plate stickers used for concealment, and other related items.

“The officers ambushed the criminals at their hideout in Thogoto and arrested the duo, who were inside a Mazda CX-5. The vehicle’s original registration number, KDC 077P, had been altered to read KDD 677P for concealment. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered master keys for car locks, crude weapons for housebreaking, number plate stickers used for concealment, and other related items,” the statement read.

The police say the two have been detained and are currently assisting them with further investigations as they await their arraignment.

“The suspects are currently in custody and are assisting police with investigations. We commend members of the public for providing information that led to the arrests and reiterate our commitment to serve and protect,” NPS stated.

Kiambu crackdown

This comes a day after police officers from Ruaka Police Post arrested one man and seized approximately 2 kilograms of unprocessed bhang following an operation in the Gacharage area of Kiambaa Sub-County, Kiambu County, on Thursday, May 29, 2025.

NPS, in a statement issued via social media on the night of Thursday, May 29, said that the operation followed a tip-off from the members of the public.

During the operation, the NPS said a total of 43 rolls of bhang were also recovered from the said person of interest.

“Following a tip-off from members of the public, police officers from Ruaka Police Post conducted a successful operation in the Gacharage area of Kiambaa Sub-County, Kiambu County, on Thursday, 29 May 2025. During the operation, one suspect was arrested in possession of 43 rolls and approximately 2 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis (bhang),” the police statement read.
