2 arrested as police recover stolen vehicles

Police have arrested two persons of interest believed to be linked to a motor vehicle theft syndicate in Kisumu following a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
In a statement shared by the National Police Service (NPS) on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the operation, carried out by officers from Migosi and Kasagam police stations, took place in Khayeko Junction and Aliwa Village within Kisumu East Sub-County. It was led by the station commanders of the two police stations.

During the operation, officers recovered several vehicles suspected of having been stolen. A search of one of the targeted homesteads led to the discovery of more exhibits, including car radios, vehicle registration plates and assorted spare parts.
“Police in Kisumu have dismantled a suspected motor vehicle theft syndicate following a meticulously coordinated, intelligence-led operation conducted by officers from Migosi and Kasagam Police Stations. The joint operation, led by the respective station commanders, was executed in Khayeko Junction and Aliwa Village within Kisumu East Sub-County, resulting in the recovery of several motor vehicles suspected to have been stolen,” NPS stated.
Adding
“A subsequent search of one of the targeted homesteads led to the recovery of additional exhibits, including car radios, vehicle registration plates, and assorted spare parts.”

The two individuals are in custody and are assisting police with investigations. One other person of interest is still at large, and police say efforts to track and arrest the individual are ongoing.
All the recovered exhibits have been secured at Migosi Police Station as the process of verifying the ownership of the vehicles continues.

The NPS commended the officers involved in the operation for their vigilance and professionalism and said it remains committed to dismantling criminal networks involved in motor vehicle theft.
“During the operation, two individuals were arrested and are currently assisting with the investigation. One other person of interest remains at large, and active efforts to locate and apprehend this individual are continuing. All recovered exhibits have been secured at Migosi Police Station as the process of verifying ownership continues,” the statement read in part.
Adding;
“The National Police Service commends the officers involved for their vigilance and professionalism and reiterates its commitment to dismantling criminal networks engaged in motor vehicle theft.”
