Comedian YY has finally lifted the lid on his sudden breakup with his ex-girlfriend, Noela Toywa.

Speaking during an interview on Alex Mwakideu TV on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, YY said he decided to walk away from the relationship because it was no longer working. He explained that sometimes it is better to leave when things are not right rather than force situations that no longer serve both parties.

The comedian made it clear that he did not want to discuss Noela or reveal details about their breakup out of respect for her. He noted that everyone involved in a relationship always knows the truth about what happened, and it is not necessary to defend it publicly.

“Kitu kama haifai si unatoka tu. I would not want to discuss anyone. I can only talk about myself. I don’t even want to be quoted. First of all, everyone who wants to talk wants to be right. Yeye anajua kwa nini nilitoka. Out of respect, I won’t say what she did. The truth does not need to be defended,” YY stated.

YY also pointed out that when public figures break up, fans often take sides without understanding the real situation. He added that people tend to form their own perceptions about celebrity relationships based on what they see online, without knowing what goes on behind the scenes.

“Sometimes when we have perceptions about people, we decide to create our own narrative about them. For instance, let’s take celebrity couples as an example, the fans will show support and say how they love them, but if you want to know they love you, breakup, that is when you will see them choosing sides,” the comedian added.

He clarified that there was no infidelity involved in their separation but maintained that he had valid reasons for ending the relationship. YY emphasised that he would not have decided if he cared about public opinion, and that the relationship ended while his former partner was asking for forgiveness.

“So when I ended that relationship, I was so sure, in fact, I would not have ended that relationship if I cared what people would think about me. There was no cheating, but there were valid reasons for ending that relationship. Anyway, I will not speak about it. Ata yeye penye ako, anajua it ended while she was asking for forgiveness,” he added.

Whirlwind romance

YY and Noela’s relationship started on a high note, capturing the hearts of many fans. The comedian went all out to express his love, from romantic helicopter rides to thoughtful surprises that painted them as the ultimate couple goals. They were the it couple on the internet especially after YY introduced Noela to his fans just two months after his split from actress Marya Okoth, and YY going to meet her parents.

“Everyone wants to be happy every day. Huwezi kuwa na mtu ambaye humpendi. I think about things before I do them,” he said in an interview with Milele FM’s Ankali Ray

He shared that he had fully healed from his past relationship and was ready to move forward.

“It does not matter how fast or how long; what matters is how soon you accept and move on. I work well when I know I have a home to run to. Men don’t want much from women; we just need moral support,” YY noted.

“I have healed. If I felt bad about what happened in my past relationship, I did then. Now, I have healed and am moving forward; even my ex-partner knows it,” he added.

But despite moving on quickly, YY’s romance with Noela did not last long.

By January 2025, the comedian confirmed they had gone their separate ways.

“We separated, just like how people separate. It’s life, let’s talk about my show.”

Speculation about a rift began around Christmas when YY didn’t acknowledge Noela’s birthday, fueling talk that things had turned sour between the once inseparable pair.
