Tom Daktari refutes claims he is a deadbeat baby daddy

Kenyan content creator Andrew Wambua Mboya alias Tom Daktari, has broken his silence over claims that he is a deadbeat father following a viral video shared by a woman who claimed he fathered her child.
Speaking to YouTuber Trudy Kitui on Saturday, May 24, 2025, Tom dismissed the claims and said he has never met the woman making the accusations.
“There is a lady, I don’t know her — she just woke up one day and took a photo with her child, then placed me next to them. It’s like this girl looked at her child and said, ‘This one could resemble Tom,'” he said.
Tom said the online reaction was swift and brutal, with many people jumping to conclusions and demanding that he take responsibility, without confirming the facts. The TikTok comedian said he urged people to stop using children for attention online, especially when the claims are unverified and damaging.
Loosely translated as;
“I just saw people who support me online saying, ‘this fool should raise the child, he also doesn’t take care of his child,’ yet they don’t even stop to ask whether it’s true or false. I told them to stop involving children in clout-chasing matters. Then I saw people telling me, ‘stop defending yourself, just take care of the child.’ Even my father called me and told me, if the child is mine, I should just raise them — you know, a parent doesn’t even know that these are just things from the internet.”
Tom also revealed that his father called him, advising him to support the child if he was indeed the father, unaware that the situation was playing out only on social media.
“Nikaona watu wananiambia ati ‘wacha kujitetea, lelea mtoto.’ Ata baba yangu alinipigia kuniambia kama mtoto ni wangu nilee tu. Unajua mzazi hata hajui hayo ni mambo ya mtandao,” he said.

Although the accusations hurt him, Tom said he chose not to pursue legal action against the woman. Instead, he asked her to remove the video.
“Niliskia vibaya, lakini I blocked them. I was to take action on the lady, but I decided against it. Nilimuongelesha nikamwambia kindly toa ii video. It does not make sense kwa sababu sikujui,” he explained.

Tom Daktari, who has earned a large fan base thanks to his comedic and relatable content, made it clear that the allegations are false. He urged the public to be cautious and responsible when sharing or reacting to sensitive matters involving children.
