Tanzanian artiste Tid shares how creativity and fan love made him a hit in Kenya

Tanzanian artiste Tid Mnyama has revealed how his creativity and the unwavering support of Kenyan fans have played a crucial role in establishing him as a household name across the border.
Speaking during an interview with a local Tanzanian radio station on Thursday, September 11, 2025, he explained that his frequent trips to Kenya are driven not by publicity stunts or clout-chasing, but by the genuine love and appreciation fans show for his music and content.
The artiste noted that Kenya has always provided him with a strong and loyal fanbase, pointing out that even during smaller shows, audiences sing along to his songs from start to finish.
“I have a very big fanbase in Kenya. Even when I perform at smaller shows, people sing my songs from start to finish. I do not know why it is like that, but I can say it is God’s plan and also because of my creativity,” he said.

Tid elaborated that his busy schedule often requires careful planning, with shows mostly falling on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays.
Travelling from Dar es Salaam to various Kenyan cities can be demanding, with some trips involving multiple flights in a single day.
Despite the logistical challenge, Tid noted that the experience is always worth it because of the enthusiasm and energy fans bring to every performance.
“When I tell people how often I go to Kenya and how many shows I have in a month, sometimes even I struggle to make all the trips. I have performance contracts, and most of the time Kenyans want me on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays. Travelling from Dar es Salaam can be exhausting, I sometimes leave money behind or take flights back to Nairobi and then to Kisumu,” he added.
Highlighting the importance of his creative output, Tid shared that the content he produces, ranging from humorous and relatable videos to engaging performances, resonates strongly with Kenyan audiences.
He stressed that his trips are motivated by this connection and the joy he derives from seeing fans respond to his work.
“The reason I go to Kenya so often is because of my hit songs and the creative content I produce, they are funny and lovable. It is purely creativity that keeps me coming back.”

The artiste also pointed out that while Kenyan fans’ love extends to other artistes, some Tanzanian performers do not fully appreciate the magnitude of support they receive in Kenya.
“I also want to say that Kenyan fans give love to other artistes, but some Tanzanian artistes do not see or appreciate it. If I cannot lie, the reason I perform in Kenya so frequently is because of my hit songs and the creative content I produce. Fans love it, and it keeps me coming back,” he explained.
