Music sensation Stevo Simple Boy and his new signee Machabe are determined to make their first trip abroad a memorable one, and that does not include cramming into the economy.

The two artistes have threatened to pull the plug on their much-anticipated Saudi Arabia gig over travel arrangements hiccup.

In a five-minute video posted on Instagram this Saturday, September 21, 2024, the “Mihadarati” hitmaker and his artiste Machabe expressed their utter dissatisfaction with the travel arrangements made by the Saudi promoter.

According to Stevo, they had agreed on business class tickets, but to their dismay, they were handed economy class seats instead.

Mlikuwa mnatarajia tusafiri kesho, lakini kuna vitu ambavyo haviko sawa. Tuliagree watutumie ndege ya business class lakini wakatuma economy class,” Stevo stated.

The displeasure didn’t stop there as the two went on to explain that there was some serious confusion about their accommodation as well.

“Alafu pia hawajaclarify vizuri tunaenda kulala kwa hoteli gani. They are not communicating,” Machabe chimed in, clearly unimpressed.

They went on to fault the gig promoter for not communicating and sticking to agreements that were made prior.

They acknowledged being paid a deposit for the Arab nation’s performance. However, they firmly said they were ready to refund the money back if the promoter didn’t reach out and clarify their concerns. The two threatened that if the ticket mishap isn’t sorted out, they will have to stay grounded.

Of course they sent us a deposit for the gig. If they do not communicate clearly, we will have to refund the deposit because we can’t make away with people’s money,” the artistes firmly stated.

We are not comfortable travelling in economy class. The agreement was business class.”

Stevo’s catchy phrase

Speaking during a live show Hangout Friday at K24 TV on Friday, August 30, 2024, Stevo announced his Saudi Arabia performance.

His signature phrase, “mefi mefi muskla,” seems to have captured hearts far beyond Kenya’s borders, leading to his international debut.

The Arabic expression meaning “no problem,” gained viral popularity and opened international doors for him. He excitedly mentioned that he will be performing on September 23, 2024.

Mafi Mafi Mshkila inamaanisha hakuna shida.”

He also explained that his unique fashion and music style have helped him establish a strong presence in Kenya’s entertainment scene and throughout East Africa, and he’s now aiming for global recognition.
