Presidential hopeful George Wajackoyah insists the benefits of marijuana are numerous and Kenya shouldn’t shy away from legalising the drug.
In an interview on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, the Roots presidential candidate claimed the Kenyan shilling note is made from marijuana, also known as bhang.
“The money we carry in our pockets is made out of fibre which comes out of marijuana, people didn’t know that,” Wajackoyah said while showing a Ksh1,000 note.
He said most countries are moving into supersonic economic power and Kenya shouldn’t be left behind.
Wajackoyah cited the World’s first hemp-fuelled flight invented by Canadian ‘weed’ company, Hempearth.
“Canada recently manufactured its first marijuana plane, a plane made out of fibre. If you see all those drones that are used in war zones, they are all made of fibre that comes from marijuana,” he added.
Hempearth’s CEO Derek Kesek said in February 2021 that the plane made out of composite hemp fibres is 10 times stronger than steel.
“In addition to being one of the world’s healthiest, and most versatile plants on earth, hemp is pound for pound 10 times stronger than steel,” Kesek said.
While stating the benefits of marijuana, Wajackoyah reiterated that bhang is the solution to revamping Kenya’s ailing economy and settling the country’s ballooning public debt.
“If you look at Canada last year alone they earned $486 billion from marijuana. Uganda has made a deal with Israel. Israel which is a holy country that has never done away with marijuana. Israel which has used hemp oil for its healing purposes,” Wajackoyah added.
“The President of Malawi, a bishop, recently asked Malawians to uproot tobacco and replace it with marijuana.”
He claims 50 kilograms of marijuana goes for $302 million (Ksh35 billion).
“Kenya is in debt. China which is feeding us with propaganda and poor economic policies has lent us money which comes from marijuana,” he added.
Wajackoyah plant bhang on all public land
The candidate, who has promised to legalise the drug if elected in August, recently said he will plant bhang on all public land to help in paying the national debt.
While speaking in Embu County where he graced the Chogachoga concert festival at Njukiri, he claimed there is a big chunk of public land lying idle and that, he says, if utilized well, the national debt will be settled.
