Content creator Ruth K has appealed to her followers and the public to help her recover her lost iPhone 14, promising a cash reward of Ksh30,000 to anyone who returns it.

She revealed that she misplaced the device while exiting Kasarani Stadium after watching Harambee Stars’ victory over Zambia on Sunday, August 17, 2025. The match had drawn huge crowds, with fans celebrating the team’s qualification from the group stage of the CHAN tournament.

Ruth explained that the day was a mixture of emotions, as she was thrilled by Kenya’s win but devastated by the loss of her phone, which contained several of her yet-to-be-published projects. She described the device as holding valuable content that she had been working on and urged anyone who comes across it to return it.

The mother of one made her appeal through Instagram stories, emphasising her willingness to reward the finder with Ksh30,000 as a show of gratitude.

“Mixed emotions today. Kenya won, and I was overly excited, but sadly, I lost my iPhone 14 while exiting Kasarani Stadium. If anyone finds it and returns it, I promise a reward of 30Ksh. It has my unposted projects,” she wrote.

Her plea came hours after Harambee Stars sealed top spot in Group A of the CHAN 2024 tournament with a 1-0 victory over Zambia. Kenya, already assured of progression before kickoff, had to work hard against a stubborn Zambian side.

The breakthrough arrived in the 75th minute when substitute Boniface Muchiri slipped a pass to Ryan Ogam, who controlled the ball inside the box before smashing it past the goalkeeper, sending the Kasarani crowd into wild celebrations.

While Harambee Stars celebrated their unbeaten run, Morocco also booked a place in the quarter-finals with a convincing 3-1 win over DR Congo at Nyayo Stadium. After a 1-1 first half, Hrimat converted a penalty in the 70th minute to give Morocco the lead before Lamlioui struck again to seal the victory.

Phone theft during games

Ruth K’s misfortune is the latest in a series of phone thefts and losses reported since the tournament began. Businessman Jimal Marlow, popularly known as Jimal Rohosafi, recently revealed that he lost his Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, Ksh256,000 in cash, and important documents during an incident at Nyayo Stadium.

“If you’re the one who took it, please keep the cash if you must, but I’m kindly asking you to return the rest, especially the phone and documents. No questions asked. Just do the right thing,” he pleaded.

Other fans have also taken to social media to narrate how they were targeted by pickpockets while attending CHAN games in Nairobi. Several have described losing multiple phones this year, with some recounting how the devices were snatched in crowded exits or during chaotic moments in and around the stadiums.
