Robert Burale lists types of people you must avoid in life
Motivational speaker and pastor Robert Burale has outlined the kinds of people one must avoid in life to move forward and succeed.
Speaking online on Friday, November 7, 2025, about the importance of personal growth and positive company, Burale said that the people you surround yourself with can either lift you or hold you back.
He explained that while everyone meets different kinds of people throughout their journey, not all are meant to stay in one’s life. According to him, avoiding negative influences is key to personal success and peace of mind

“In life, you get to meet different kinds of people. But for you to meet to the next level, there are types of people you must avoid with everything you have,” he said.

Warns against jealous friends
Burale went on to describe the first group of people one should avoid—those who always speak negatively about others. He said that people who respond to someone’s name with gossip or bad talk should be kept at a distance.
“Number 1, avoid these kinds of people. At the mention of somebody’s name, the first thing that comes out of their mouth is negativity or gossip,” he warned.
He also highlighted another group of people whose lives have stagnated and who feel uncomfortable seeing others progress. Burale said such individuals often become envious and try to bring others down to their level instead of working to improve their own lives.

“Avoid these types of people whose lives have stagnated. Have you ever been in a situation where you are in school with somebody, at university, and your life seems to have moved ahead, your success angers them, and every day they wake up to try and see how they can bring you down to their level,” he said.
The motivational speaker encouraged people to be intentional about their circles and choose friends who inspire growth rather than hinder it.
“For you to move to the next level, you have to embrace the friends that challenge you to be better,” he advised.
Burale concluded by reminding his audience that every person who comes into one’s life serves a purpose—some to build and others to destroy.
“Remember, people come in different ways. Some come to break, others come to develop. The choice is yours,” he said.
