Gospel singer and preacher Reverend Ruth Wamuyu has held a special prayer session in the USA with the mother of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo, who passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, following acute myeloid leukaemia [AML].

In a video shared on TikTok on Friday, November 14, 2025, Wamuyu is seen inviting Betty Bayo’s mum to the podium of a church and beginning to sing a worship song as she urged congregants to lift her in prayer.

The session then escalated into a heartfelt prayer moment, with Wamuyu praying for Betty’s mum while holding her, as other church members joined them at the front to pray.

Betty’s mum is also seen in deep prayer and, at times, shedding tears, leading the congregants to surround her as they interceded for peace, comfort, and strength for the entire family of the ‘11th Hour’ hitmaker.

This came as Betty Bayo and Hiram Gitau’s overseas fans continued to hold prayer sessions and meetings, seeking ways they can contribute to supporting her burial, which has been scheduled for Thursday, November 20, 2025.

Untimely passing

The development came as burial planning meetings for the late songstress, being held at Bluesprings Hotel, her widower Hiram Gitau’s residence, and Pastor Kanyari’s church, entered their fourth day.

Betty, who was renowned for songs like ’11th Hour’, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at exactly 1:03 pm at the Kenyatta National Hospital’s private wing.

She had been unwell since the previous week, battling acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding that worsened over the weekend.

She was first admitted to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road, where doctors began emergency treatment, before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital on Friday, November 7, 2025, when her condition deteriorated.

According to a family representative, doctors tried to stabilise her, but her body eventually gave in.

“Betty had been unwell since last week, suffering from acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding. She was first taken to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road before being transferred here on Friday. The doctors did their best, but the will of God has been fulfilled. We are planning to move her body to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, and all communications will follow,” she added.
