Rayvanny reveals how collaborations shaped Diamond’s rise in West Africa and beyond
By Steve Ireri, August 24, 2025Tanzanian music artiste Rayvanny has shared insights into the power of strategic collaborations, citing Diamond Platnumz as a prime example of how partnering with the right artistes can unlock new audiences and broaden regional influence.
Speaking during his birthday party on the night of Saturday, August 23, 2025, Rayvanny explained that through carefully curated collaborations with prominent West African artistes such as Davido, Diamond was able to expand his reach across Nigeria, the wider West African region, and francophone markets.
“I will give an example of Diamond. He did collaborations with artistes such as Davido, Innos B, and others; he was able to win over his francophone fans as well. That is the way he conquered Nigeria and West Africa, through Davido and other artistes like Flavour. That is how music should be. And now, I am very popular in India because of this approach,” he said.
Rayvanny has also highlighted the significance of tracks like “Tetema,” noting that although some may perceive them as simple or experimental, these songs helped him carve pathways to broader recognition and monumental opportunities.
He said that these strategic partnerships exemplify how foresight, planning, and artistic intent can transform a local hit into a regional phenomenon, shaping the very landscape of contemporary African music.
“All the things I do are aligned with my vision of who I want to become. I want to go in a certain direction and focus on a specific market. I know that in the future, people will understand my vision and the plan I had. I always say I do not follow the crowd. I came to lead, but in my own way. In life, to succeed, there must be a reason for the path you take. I have seen others say, ‘Oh, Tetema is nothing,’ but through that Tetema, many opportunities opened for me.”

Rayvanny further reflected on his own trajectory in the music industry, emphasising that every artistic decision he makes is guided by an intentional vision of who he aspires to be and the markets he seeks to impact.
He said that his approach is not to chase fleeting trends or imitate the successes of others, but to lead with authenticity and deliberate direction, ensuring that his music resonates on both a personal and global level.
“All the things I do are aligned with my vision of who I want to become. I want to go in a certain direction and focus on a specific market. I know that in the future, people will understand my vision and the plan I had. I always say I do not follow the crowd. I came to lead, but in my own way. In life, to succeed, there must be a reason for the path you take,” he added.
Rayvanny also addressed criticism and perceptions of chart performance, stating that attention, whether in the form of praise or critique, is evidence that his music is being noticed and discussed.
He explained that if people complain or challenge his work, it demonstrates that his artistry commands recognition, and such opposition can serve as fuel to motivate him to excel and make his audience proud.
“Regarding not topping charts in music, I can say that a tree that bears fruit is always the one that gets stoned. When you see people talking about you, and others complaining, it simply means they are paying attention to you. If they did not notice you, you would not even be part of the discussion,” he said.

He described this as a driving force behind his unwavering commitment to his craft, likening the attention to a fire that ignites determination and ambition.
“Whether they praise you or oppose you, it shows that you matter. It is very good when people oppose you because opposition gives you the anger to prove them wrong. So everything I do is driven by this energy, and I do not want to believe that fans or music stakeholders dislike me, and that is why from day one, they have supported me and been here, which has been their strength. Therefore, whatever I am doing, I want to make my people proud.”
