Oga Obinna discloses earning Ksh388K from music streaming
Media personality and musician Ogab Obinna has disclosed that he made Ksh388,000 from a streaming platform through his music.
Speaking during an interview on YouTube on Friday night, July 11, 2025, Obinna shared the figure while discussing the potential of digital platforms to generate income for artists.
“The other day, I was looking at the money I made on streaming; I made Ksh388,500. Okay, the local market has not paid me yet, so I have a distributor. There are people who distribute music; once I release a song, they put it up. The mount surprised me,” he revealed.
However, he stated that he had spent much more on the production of the music, but expressed gratitude for at least earning some cash from his music.
“I have spent so much more than that, but looking at it, at least, it’s something. If you look at my streaming sites, people are listening to my music who are not even local,” he added.
Speaking on collaboration with other artists, he pointed out that he faced rejection at the beginning but remained resilient.
“I have been told so many no’s. I had a manager called Moseso. We had written around 100 proposals and pitched them, but only one went through. So you only need one, yes,” he said.
Beef with Amber Ray
This comes a month after a heated drama ensued between the artiste and socialite Amber Ray over their past music video collaboration.
Obinna brought to light Amber Ray’s conduct during a past project, explaining that it was the point when their relationship became strained.
Amber fired back, accusing Obinna of changing the agreed plan during the shoot for his Kado music video, saying she felt disrespected and blindsided when asked to do things that were never part of their deal.
However, Obinna has now responded in kind, setting the record straight from his perspective and challenging Amber’s version of events.

“That is a lie because the truth of the matter is that Amber was 4 hours late. Where was she? She, my ex-girlfriend Liz, was drinking somewhere, and they showed up on set drunk,” Obinna claimed.
According to Obinna, the situation got so chaotic that Amber’s partner, Kennedy Rapudo, had to step in to do damage control.
“The person who was crisis managing was Rapudo. He tried to apologise, explaining how things had been and how he eventually managed to bring her. Actually, even before anything, I spoke with Rapudo and told him that there was a song I had done and I wanted Amber to be in the video, and he agreed and told me to talk to her; if she agrees, it’s okay,” he said.
Obinna clarified that they had agreed on a Ksh50,000 payment for Amber’s appearance but insisted the payment would only be made upon delivery.
“I was supposed to pay her Ksh50,000, and it’s true I had not paid her because you arrive on set, do your thing, and you’re paid. When she arrived on set drunk, she went to do makeup, and so now we were waiting for 5 hours just seated,” he explained.
