Oga Obinna claims there is a plan to harm him during Raila’s burial

Comedian and media personality Oga Obinna has come to claim that there is a well-orchestrated scheme to harm him during the burial of the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Bondo on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
In an official statement published on his Instagram page on Saturday night, October 18, 2025, Obinna pointed an accusing finger at some lawmakers within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of being behind the plot to harm when the country’s former prime minister is laid to rest.

“Obinna TV Studios has come to learn that certain leaders within ODM have paid goons to harm Oga Obinna as he attends the burial of the late Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga in Bondo this Sunday,” the statement read in part.
“Oga Obinna has always condemned all forms of violence in the strongest terms. He stands for dialogues, understanding, and accommodation of different political opinions,” the statement added.
Call for peace
Obinna, however, echoed Mama Ida Odinga’s sentiments by calling for peace during the Raila Odinga burial in Bondo on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

Oga Obinna further urged security agencies to intensify their surveillance to guarantee a fitting farewell for Raila, free from any form of violence.
“We call for peace and understanding while honouring this solemn event. We urge the Kenya Police Service and DCI to heighten vigilance, bolster security, and investigate these threats promptly to protect all involved. Let us commemorate Hon. Odinga peacefully,” Obinna reiterated.
Condemning planned attack on Babu Owino
His latest claims came hours after he warned against plotting to attack the Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino. Obinna emphasised that, at this moment, the army of Raila Odinga has effectively become the army of Babu Owino, and that every effort must be made to ensure that no harm comes to the young leader.
“I know that as a country we are not in a good place, but hold on. This message is for Babu Owino. I have seen a post that Babu put up stating that some people are planning to harm him around the time of Raila’s funeral. What I would say is that the army of Raila is now automatically the army of Babu Owino,” he stated.
His warning came after Babu Owino shared a statement stating that there were plans to attack him on or before the day of Raila Odinga’s burial. In the message shared on X, Babu also appealed that the late leader be accorded a dignified farewell devoid of violence.
“There are plans to attack me on or before the day of Baba’s burial. I am aware of the culprits behind the scheme. It is my prayer that we give Baba the befitting send off that he deserves devoid of unwarranted violence,” Babu posted.
