Gospel musician Mr Seed left attendees spellbound at the ODM anniversary celebrations in Mombasa as he delivered a performance of his viral Raila Odinga tribute, captivating the crowd from start to finish.

In a video shared on YouTube by Azimio TV on Saturday, November 15, 2025, the ‘Kumbe Kumbe’ hitmaker is seen appearing from the back of a podium, dressed in full orange attire, and using the song ‘Jamaica Farewell’, which was Raila’s favourite, to curtain raise the event.

He then greeted attendees and began singing his tribute to the late ODM leader, titled ‘Farewell Song’, word by word.

The video shows the singer pausing his mic and asking attendees to join him in parts of the lyrics as a way of remembering the leader, who is hailed as the founding father of the party.

“This is for Baba, we are doing it slowly by slowly,” Mr Seed said.

The part that Mr Seed sang during the occasion specifically focused on how Raila’s passing had left the country reeling in pain and how people would no longer have someone to defend them as he did.

“Ati umetuacha nan ani baba tunahuzunika uliondoka baba mapema hukusema sasa sisi tunalia. Wakenya wanalia sana; hatujakubali baba. Kabla hujalala tuite nani atutee baba umetuacha na upweke,” he sang.

At the same time, Mr Seed also performed other of his signature songs, including his popular 2017 release ‘Kumbe Kumbe’, which features Bahati.

He also performed ‘Ex Wangu,’ his 2024 release, which is a collaboration with singer Alphajiri.

ODM celebrations

The milestone event held at the historic Mama Ngina Waterfront was attended by key leaders from the party, including Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, its chairperson Gladys Wanga, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, among other leaders.

The occasion will also honour party founder Raila Odinga, with festivities spread across the coastal city.

President William Ruto and ex-Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala are expected to grace the occasion as guests, among a trove of other leaders.

The celebration is expected to bring together a mix of party loyalists, old guards, and new-generation leaders in what will be a defining moment for Kenya’s most resilient political movement.

This will be the first major event for the ODM party since the death of its party leader, Raila Odinga, in Kerala, India, on Wednesday, October 15.
