Moya David dismisses claims he gained weight after vanishing with clients’ gifts

Dancer and content creator Moya David has come out to set the record straight after social media users accused him of gaining weight because he has been vanishing with clients’ gifts.

Speaking during an interview with YouTuber Vickie Vickinah on Monday, October 13, 2025, the entertainer dismissed the talk of disappearing with money and flowers meant for others as idle gossip and social media noise.

Moya said that the gifts he delivers always reach their rightful owners, adding that people have simply blown things out of proportion.

“As for those saying I vanish with clients’ surprise gifts, those are just social media comments. The gifts I deliver include money and flowers, and I always make sure they reach the intended people. Those stories of me running off with gifts are just online gossip,” Moya said.

Further, Moya refuted claims that he has gone off the radar, as many assume, saying he has simply shifted gears to focus on high-end private surprises.

He explained that most of these clients prefer to keep their gestures away from the public eye, which is why he has not been posting as frequently as before.

“I did not take a break at all. I have been active in the game, only that nowadays most of my surprises are high-end and very private. Many of my clients do not want their moments filmed or posted online. Back then I used to post a lot because some people enjoyed the attention, but now I deal with clients who prefer privacy,” Moya said.

He maintained that despite his reduced online visibility, business has been booming, and the weight gain people keep talking about is simply a reflection of comfort, not corruption.

Moya made it clear that he still earns a handsome income from his surprise gigs and that there is no truth to claims suggesting he pockets clients’ gifts.

“I am still earning good money, and that is actually one of the reasons I have gained weight. I am not broke. Doing surprises is a real job that pays well, and one can comfortably depend on it,” Moya said.

Sugar mammies

Addressing rumours that he is being bankrolled by sugar mammies, Moya said those claims hold no water.

He emphasised that his success is a product of hard work and consistency, not handouts or hidden sponsors, stressing that he makes a decent living from his craft.

“I cannot keep proving myself every time because others are even saying my weight gain could be due to health problems. That is not true. This job pays me well, and I make a good living from it. The talk about sugar mammies funding me is just a rumour. I do not have any sponsors.”

Body shaming

On the issue of body shaming, the dancer noted that while some fans have taken jabs at him for gaining weight, he takes such comments with a pinch of salt.

He said that as a performer, he has learnt to dance to the rhythm of life, embracing change, age, and progress as part of his journey.

Moya added that he is content with how he looks and believes that growth often comes with visible transformation.

“There have been claims that I no longer dance as well because of my weight, but I like this version of me. Before, I was very slim. I also believe that as you grow older, your body changes with age, and that is perfectly normal. Some people actually say I look better now, and I agree.”
