Khaligraph Jones says Luo Festival organisers booked him for his wealthy image
By Valerian Khakayi, August 10, 2025Kenya’s award-winning rapper Brian Ouko Omollo, also known as Khaligraph Jones, has hit back at critics who were against him being part of the artistes lined up to perform at the much-hyped Luo festival event held at Uhuru Gardens on Saturday, August 9, till the early hours of Sunday, August 10, 2025.
Speaking at the Luo Festival’s event stage before performing, Khaligraph said that after the organisers confirmed him as one of the artiste to grace the stage, some people had opposed his inclusion.
Additionally, he said that the event’s organisers did not book him because of his rapping skills but because of his wealth status.
“Ile saa walinibook wakaniambia Khaligraph Jones, you are supposed to come and perform at Luo Festival, kulikuwa na watu wangine walikuwa na shida nayo, but let me tell them, they did not book me because I am a rapper! They booked me because I am rich,” he said.
The self-proclaimed OG was among notable artistes who gave an electrifying performance during the Luo cultural event.

Among the musicians who graced the event were Tanzanian veteran musician Ommy Dimpoz, Okello Max, Iyanni, Javan Macajudo, Coster Ojwang, John Junior, Musa Jakadala, Osito Kale, Odongo Swag, Prince Inda, and Tony Nyadundo.
Additionally, legendary Benga artiste Emma Jalamo closed the night with a powerful set that had fans dancing to the very end.
Behind the decks, DJ Joe Mfalme, DJ Jr, DJ Daffy, DJ Malaika, DJ Walo, and PS Scratch kept the energy soaring, while hypemen MC Gogo and Hype Ballo kept the revellers engaged and energised.
