Internet sensational Kartelo has called upon Kenyans to support and guide Gengetone artists and the entire youths in the country.
In a video posted on his Instagram account, Kartelo decried criticism and judgment to these upcoming artists noting they are in pursuit of a better life.
“These are young people trying to earn a living and change their livelihood for the better, guide them in this course,” he noted.
He continued to urge Kenyans to create a favorable environment for these young people to grow and prosper.
“You can’t stop the dream, Gengetone to the world,” he said in conclusion.
Kartelo came into the limelight over his prowess in speaking the ‘sheng’ language in his short comedy skits.
Reports show that the rate of unemployment among the youths in the country has been on a steady rise over the past years.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government launched Kazi Mtaani program in an effort to reduce the burden at a cost of Ksh10 billion.
The program which engaged over 280,000 youths is however set to take a break at the end of June.
As of November 2020, reports by World Bank indicated that unemployment rates increased from 5 percent to 21percent with two million Kenyans falling below the poverty line between March and June.
This increased the number of people living below $1.90 (Ksh210) per day by 4% to two million as reported by BBC.
