Kabi Wa Jesus’ best friend Peter Shire laid to rest in emotional Nakuru send-off
By Steve Ireri, August 30, 2025Kabi Wa Jesus’ best friend, Peter Shiretunya, was laid to rest in Nakuru on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in an emotional ceremony attended by close family, friends, and colleagues.
Kabi Wa Jesus and his wife, Milly Wa Jesus, were present throughout the burial, dressed in full black.
In a video shared on Kabi’s Instagram page on the same day, the YouTube couple could be seen first viewing Peter’s body at his family home before joining other mourners at the graveside.
The ceremony was marked by solemn hymns led by members of a local church, who surrounded Peter’s brown casket as they sang and prayed, creating a reflective and poignant atmosphere.
Gospel duo Wapendwa Muziki also attended the service, dressed in black, paying tribute to their late friend and participating in prayers and songs that celebrated his life and faith.
Earlier in the week, Kabi, Milly, and Wapendwa Muziki had held a private gathering with family members to honour Peter, during which attendees shared memories, offered prayers, and reflected on his journey and resilience.

During that tribute, Ninah of Wapendwa Muziki led the worship, accompanied by her husband Mesh on vocals and a pianist providing a moving musical backdrop, as those present remembered Peter’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith.
Peter had battled a prolonged illness earlier in the year, and Kabi recounted that despite four months of sickness, Peter had shown remarkable recovery and even managed to drive, inspiring hope among his friends and loved ones.
The gospel duo also highlighted that while Peter had shown signs of recovery, his sudden passing made the loss even more poignant, prompting them to reach out to the public for support in covering his hospital bills and funeral expenses.
“Still so hard to believe 😭 And so, guys, we need your help. We are raising 3 million to clear his hospital bill and give him a dignified send-off. Whatever you can give will go a long way,” they wrote.
In a heartfelt message, they explained that they were seeking Ksh3 million to ensure Peter received a dignified send-off, urging fans and well-wishers to contribute to the cause and celebrate the life of someone who had touched so many.
Reflecting on the burial, Kabi Wa Jesus said seeing Peter’s lifeless body was a reminder that the physical form is temporary, and that his spirit lives on, now with the Lord.
“On the 1st of January this year, Peter had battled with illness for 4 months, but by God’s grace, he was back on his feet. On that very day, he was even driving. It was a true beacon of hope, seeing him walk again. Yesterday, one of our friends reminded us that in all things we give thanks and began singing “Asante Yesu.” In that moment, I saw the Word of God come alive, though it is very hard, truly in all things, we must give thanks,” he wrote.
