Kenyan socialite and beauty entrepreneur Huddah Monroe has expressed her concerns about alcoholism, calling it the biggest pandemic in Kenya and across Africa.
In a series of Insta stories, Huddah shared her experiences and observations about the effects of alcohol on individuals and society.
“I drink to celebrate these days not to get drunk and mess things up coz I realized Alcohol turns me to a literal JINN. I become someone else. Angry, bitter, rude. Everything offends me when I’m drunk you rather smoke weed. You can lose every and everyone cuz of alcohol,” she confessed.
The opinionated socialite revealed her strict approach towards those who consume alcohol revealing that she resorted to cutting them off.
“These days I cut people off, block, delete just coz they smell of alcohol. Women/men all,” she stated.
She also pointed out how to identify an alcoholic, noting that they always reek of alcohol from morning to evening.
“They smell of alcohol from morning till evening even without drinking. It’s coz the smell comes from the GUT not the mouth. They can be super clean people but the stomach/liver has refused.”
Huddah criticised the societal acceptance of excessive drinking noting that it has become a disease.
“Not to mention. Alcoholism is the biggest pandemic in Kenya Or is it Africa? It’s a fuckin disease I dunno why people talk about which country drinks the most as if it’s an achievement,” she remarked.
Adding;
“Just sitting on the sidelines watching them self-destruct. I’m ready to buy their casket when it’s all done. Coz Addiction can only be fought by the addict. Do not stress yourself there’s nothing you can do to change them unless they want to.”
Huddah on unplanned parenthood
Huddah recently suggested that Africans should consider emulating the white community regarding the timing of parenthood.
Huddah emphasized the significance of being financially prepared before having children in a series of Instagram stories.
“Most African parents, just like most of you, gave birth in the belief that a child comes with their own blessings and their plate that you didn’t prepare for,” she said.
Adding;
“That poverty mentality needs to be eradicated from the face of earth now. Most parents are aging, some of their 40-year-old children barely made it yet outta that poverty they grew in coz of the unplanned parenthood. Plus, they have their own kids who also they didn’t plan for, who need education, health, and a roof over their heads.”
Huddah pointed out the difficulties many African families encounter, noting that unplanned children and ageing parents contribute to a persistent cycle of poverty.
“And then there’s that parent who is also ageing, who is getting old age sickness to take care of. When will this man or woman ever make it? Probably never! Then he dies poor coz bills have finished him plus borrowing and debt, then the cycle continues,” she elaborated.
The socialite argued that this cycle hinders many Africans from achieving financial stability and prosperity.
“Tell me why white communities will never be ahead. They plan for generations to come before having kids. Africans should do better. Say no to black tax,” Huddah said.
