Harmonize likens himself to Nigeria’s Rema as he touts global success
By Steve Ireri, August 19, 2025Tanzanian singer and Konde Gang label CEO Harmonize has positioned himself as a global force in Tanzania’s music industry and the voice of the new generation.
In a post on his Instagram on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, ahead of his forthcoming album, the singer confidently likened himself to Nigerian sensation Rema, insisting that he now operates on a level beyond most Tanzanian artistes.
The ‘Sensema’ hitmaker then highlighted the loyalty of his fan base, noting that while they predominantly enjoy Nigerian artistes like Rema and Ayra Starr, he has carved out a global platform that sets him apart.
“Most of my fans listen to Rema and Ayra Starr, yet I have reached a global stage unlike most Tanzanian singers. I am the singer of the new generation,” he said.
The artiste, who recently turned 31, revealed that his upcoming album marks a fresh chapter in his career, one that blends English and local influences to connect with a broader, international audience.
“I am starting a new era in music, and I cannot wait to inspire this generation with more English songs,” Harmonize said.

Harmonize also addressed his fame and recognisability, asserting that fans no longer need to search for him online to know about his work.
He insisted that his English songs speak for themselves and noted that performing in English has helped him connect with fans of Nigerian stars such as Rema and Ayra Starr.
“You do not have to Google me; the album is coming out, and I have already done everything to ensure it reaches my audience. You are not ready,” he teased.
Warning to artistes
Lately, Harmonize has been very vocal about the role English plays in elevating a musician, especially with the rise of Gen Z fans who are well-read.
On Friday, August 15, 2025, he issued a pointed warning to fellow artistes, cautioning that those who fail to incorporate English into their songs risk being ignored by a whole generation of listeners in the coming years.

He said that the greatest achievement for any artiste is ensuring that their music reaches people from all walks of life, including those living ordinary, everyday lives far from urban centres.
According to him, it is often easier for city audiences to access and share music because of strong social media networks, but genuine impact comes from reaching fans outside these circles.
“Success or the greatest measure of your art is to make sure that when you release a song, it reaches people like me, people living normal lives,” Harmonize emphasised.
He added that maintaining this connection with grassroots audiences is crucial because these fans form the backbone of a musician’s enduring influence.
“As your career grows, it becomes easier to reach city audiences because you are connected through social networks, but real impact comes from touching the lives of those beyond these circles,” he added.
Harmonize went on to celebrate the release of his latest hit, describing it as another international hit that made his day.
He said the song exemplifies how artists can mix languages and styles while still creating music that resonates deeply with listeners.
“This video made my day because it is another international hit. We must continue blending languages carefully, one condition: no English, no competition. Trust me, if you do not sing in English in the next five years, you will not be heard by the new generation,” he added.
