Dr Ofweneke reveals why he is not in a hurry to marry

Comedian and TV host Dr Ofweneke has opened up about why he is not in any rush to tie the knot.

He has one humorous but relatable reason: the never-ending question of “Babe, what are we eating today?” as one of the reasons.

Speaking on Instagram on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Ofweneke explained that while he values relationships and family, he finds it frustrating that women often struggle to decide what to eat, leaving the burden on men even after they have worked hard to provide.

“One of the reasons I am not in a hurry to get married is the question of babe leo tutakula nini? I don’t get it. Wives never seem to know,” he said. “Imagine, I have gone out, worked hard, brought money, done the shopping, and the fridge is full. Yet I still have to decide what we are going to eat. That question makes me want to cry,” he joked.

Everyday struggles

True to his comedic style, Dr Ofweneke turned the common household dilemma into a point of humour, but one that also reflects the small but real challenges of relationships. He noted that after putting in the effort to provide for his family, he finds it exhausting to still be expected to make decisions about meals.

According to Ofweneke, this daily back-and-forth over food decisions is a hidden stress in many homes, yet people rarely talk about it.

“I bring money, I buy shopping, the fridge is full, but still I am asked to decide. That is too much pressure,” he said, leaving his audience in laughter.

His remarks quickly struck a chord online, with many men and women admitting they face the same situation in their households. Some agreed with him, saying the mealtime question can indeed be frustrating, while others took it as a light-hearted reminder that relationships are about compromise and teamwork.

While his comments were made in jest, they also highlighted how small domestic issues can influence how people view marriage and long-term relationships.

For now, however, the comedian seems content to laugh off the pressures and take his time before walking down the aisle.
