Swazi DJ and record producer Uncle Waffles has issued a statement following the chaotic twist of events during her concert at ASK Dome along Ngong Road in Nairobi.

What started as a night of fun and frolic descended into chaos forcing police to lob teargas canisters to disperse attendees from the venue.

In her statement on Monday, December 2, 2024, Waffles expressed dissapointment in the manner which her event was handled.

She noted that the event was filled with several frustrations ranging from issues with the sound systems to how her team was mishandled.

“I’m extremely disappointed and shattered by the way the *For the love of amapiano* was handled. This. Event which was something I have been looking forward to for a while, from sound issues even before my performance to my team being mishandled. This wasn’t something I expected at all,” she wrote on her Insta Stories.

DJ Waffles stated that witnessing her Kenyan fans being mistreated by security at the event was the worst letdown that crushed her heart.

She also defended that she had to cut her performance short due to her fans’ discomfort, highlighting the significance of their well-being.

“What has disappointed me most though is how my Kenyan supporters were treated by the organizers and security at the event – people were pushed around, mishandled and treated with the least amount of care and that is something I will not stand for.

“The safety and wellbeing of people who come out to support me and this genre is my top priority and I could not play my set any longer while people were visibly uncomfortable and at risk of getting hurt,” she said.

Additionally, the DJ criticized the organizers for their inadequate performance and urged them to improve their services for such situations in the future.

“To the event organizers, you have not only disappointed me but you have also let down the 10,000 plus people who came out in support of this event. I urge you to do better if you have any desire to continue putting events together in the future. Kenya I hope to see you again soon with a much better outcome,” she added.

The highly anticipated event was marred with chaos and disruption as attendees faced a myriad of issues such as delays, lack of clear communication and overcrowding among others.

This led to heightened frustrations causing chaos, forcing security agencies to intervene.

Attendees took to various social media platforms to air out their frustrations and disappointment and called on organizers to plan better next time.
