Crazy Kennar reveals father worries he could forsake his career for comedy

Comedian and content creator Crazy Kennar has opened up about his father’s persistent concerns that he may lose focus on his professional background while pursuing a comedy career.
Speaking during an interview with Churchill on Saturday, August 16, 2025, Kennar revealed that his father constantly reminds him not to forget the actuarial science degree he completed at JKUAT, despite his growing prominence in the entertainment scene.
“My dad always reminds me, ‘I know you do comedy, but do not forget your profession,’” Kennar said.
He explained that his father’s advice stems from a deep respect for education and professional achievement.
“He is an academician and lives in Nairobi. That is why I studied actuarial science at JKUAT,” he added.
Kennar himself excelled in mathematics and other analytical subjects during his school years, performing well academically, and he said that foundation has helped him think creatively and structure his comedy content with precision.
Comedy, however, came naturally to Kennar, and he said he treats it as a calling.
“Acting and comedy, however, came to me more naturally, it feels like a calling. I have never formally auditioned for acting roles,” he added.

Despite never formally auditioning for acting roles, he has managed to make a name for himself with skits that resonate widely with audiences.
He recounted his experience attending the Churchill Show, where he opted not to audition in a desperate attempt to impress, instead choosing to focus on refining his own skits.
“I have never formally auditioned for acting roles, although I once attended the Churchill Show. When I saw Churchill seated and speaking to someone, I thought I should not make a desperate move; instead, I should focus on my skits, and he would notice me,” Kennar explained.
Kennar’s skits are often inspired by real-life experiences from his upbringing, particularly life in a bedsitter, which he describes as full of humorous and relatable moments.
His content, he added, is designed to entertain and help viewers cope with depression and everyday stress.
“I do entertainment and create skits to help people fight depression.”
He also emphasised the role of his mother in his creative journey, noting that she has been a constant source of support, even providing costumes for skits that involve older women.
“My mum loves my skits so much that she even found costumes for me, especially for skits about older women,” he said.

Kennar revealed that over the years, he has collaborated with numerous brands, leveraging his creativity and personal experiences to build engaging content.
However, he added that the ideas behind his skits remain entirely his own, demonstrating his commitment to originality and authenticity in the entertainment space.
“Over the years, I have worked with several brands, but all the skits come from real-life experiences growing up. Life in a bedsitter, for example, was often so funny and inspired much of my content.”
