Mental health champion Bravin Yuri has spoken out against content creator and cross-dresser Kelvin Kinuthia’s decision to use Ozempic injections as a method of losing weight.

Yuri expressed his concerns through a post on his Instagram stories on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, saying that not every issue should be solved through medication and surgery.

He questioned why Kinuthia would choose medication to lose a mere 5 kilograms in one week, suggesting a more natural route could do the trick.

“You are using drugs to lose weight, and you lose only 5 kgs in 7 days. Bruh! Get into a calorie deficit and just 10,000 steps a day, and see how much you will lose. Not every issue has to be solved with drugs and surgeries,” Yuri advised.

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Kinuthia went public with his weight loss journey. He revealed that he has turned to Ozempic, an injectable drug initially used to treat type 2 diabetes but now increasingly used for weight loss, to help him shed extra kilos.

Taking to Instagram, Kinuthia shared that he was initially weighing 148 kilograms, but after just one week of being injected with Ozempic, he had dropped to 143 kilograms.

“This is a living testimony, my people, my body is about to transform. Losing 5kgs in 7 days is such a big flex. Am in week 2 of my Ozempic shots and am loving my new body looks. I started at 148 kg, now at 143 kg. I can’t wait to see my body goals,” Kinuthia posted.

Popular among celebs

The use of Ozempic for weight loss is becoming more common among Kenyan celebrities. Content creator Pritty Vishy also shared her own experience with the drug during an appearance on a local TV station.

Vishy revealed that she had lost 41 kilograms over several months of using Ozempic. She said that after struggling to lose weight through exercise, she turned to the injection as a last resort.

“I tried working out in the gym, but I felt overwhelmed. I couldn’t lose weight. So I opted for Ozempic. I was injected and I was told I would experience some side effects such as vomiting, diarrhoea, and a lack of appetite. Only one worked. I eat too much. When I was injected with the Ozempic, I didn’t eat that much,” she explained.

Ozempic is a prescription medication that contains the active ingredient semaglutide. It was originally developed to help manage type 2 diabetes by regulating blood sugar levels. However, it has gained significant fame for its off-label use in weight loss, especially after celebrities and influencers began endorsing or being rumoured to use it.
