Bishop Kiengei sends church ambulance to ferry Betty Bayo’s body

An ambulance from Jesus Compassion Ministries (JCM), the church led by Bishop Ben Kiengei, has arrived at the Kenyatta National Hospital private wing to help transport the body of gospel singer Betty Bayo to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital Mortuary.
In a video shared by a local YouTuber on Facebook on Monday, November 10, 2025, the ambulance is seen arriving at the hospital’s parking bay, and the staff heading out to join the family inside the hospital.
This came just hours after Betty Bayo’s daughter, Sky Victor, arrived at the facility in the company of gospel singer Shiru Wa GP, who held her by the shoulders.
In the video, Sky is seen meeting her father, Pastor Victor Kanyari, at the private wing’s waiting lobby and immediately beginning to sob after the news was broken to her.
Kanyari is seen hugging her warmly as Sky continued to cry while other people, including gospel singer Ben Githae, surrounded them.

Burial plans
The development came just hours after a family representative revealed that they were planning to immediately move her body from the hospital to the Kenyatta University Referral Mortuary, where it would stay until all funeral arrangements were finalised.
Speaking on behalf of Betty’s husband, Hiram Gitau, the representative confirmed that Betty Bayo passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at exactly 1:03 pm at the Kenyatta National Hospital’s private wing.
The representative explained that Betty had been unwell since the previous week, battling acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding that had worsened over the weekend.
“We are here at Kenyatta National Hospital’s private wing. The spouse, the father of her children, and friends of Betty Bayo want to inform the public that today at 1:03 pm, we have lost Betty, and it is no longer a rumour,” the representative said.

Betty was first admitted to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road, where doctors began emergency treatment, before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital on Friday, November 7, 2025, when her condition deteriorated.
Despite the efforts by doctors to stabilise her, the representative said, her body eventually gave in, noting that the family had accepted the outcome as the will of God.
“Betty had been unwell since last week, suffering from acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding. She was first taken to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road before being transferred here on Friday. The doctors did their best, but the will of God has been fulfilled. We are planning to move her body to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, and all communications will follow,” she added.
Present during the announcement were her husband, Hiram Gitau, her former husband, Pastor Victor Kanyari; close family members; and friends, who gathered at the hospital’s private wing to receive the devastating news.
