Bien dismisses negative views on marriage, says his 11 years with Chiki prove it works
Singer Bien-Aimé Alusa Baraza has dismissed claims that marriage excites only fools, saying that his union with Chiki Karuka has not only stood the test of time but has also become a source of growth and inspiration.
Speaking on Monday, September 22, 2025, the artiste said that contrary to the trending views that marriage is outdated and only meant for naïve people, he has found it to be fulfilling and worth embracing.
He explained that marriage brings growth, unity and the chance to build a future together, adding that he would tell his wife the same truth without hesitation.
“Marriage does not excite only fools. I would even tell my wife Chiki the same, marriage does not excite only fools. Marriage is good. Get married. There is growth and there is building together,” the singer said.

Bien noted that while he respects and empathises with people who hold a different perspective, his own experience proves that marriage works.
He said that his marriage to Chiki has lasted for 11 years, a milestone that many might not realise, and that their journey has been sustained by honesty, open communication and mentorship from close friends and his parents, who themselves have been married for 40 years.
“I empathise with people who have a different mindset, but it is a democracy and you can say what you want about marriage. But from my marriage, you can see firsthand how marriage works.”
He added that even though their relationship is not perfect and they sometimes face fights and difficult moments, they continue to stand firm because they choose to talk through challenges and remain transparent with one another.
He insisted that marriage is not an illusion of perfection but a commitment to grow together through the highs and lows.
“We are never perfect, but we keep moving. It has been 11 good years of marriage between me and Chiki, and many people do not even know that. We do fight, and we do have difficult moments. But we maintain honesty, we talk, and we have very good friends who mentor us, like my parents, who have been married for 40 years,” Bien added.
