Kenyan singer Bahati is celebrating a major milestone after his latest song “Seti” hit one million views on YouTube just two days after its release, despite widespread controversy over its explicit content and bold lyrics.

In a video shared on Instagram on Saturday, October 4, 2025, the EMB Records founder appeared visibly excited as he reflected on the milestone, calling it a historic achievement for the Kenyan music industry.

“Watoto wadogo nimewakalisha chini tumeandika history Guinness Book of Records. Wanafaa kuwa wananitafuta!” Bahati said proudly.

According to Bahati, Seti is not just another release but a record-breaking project. He claimed it is the first Kenyan music video to hit one million views in a single day, adding that it proves his unmatched influence in the local music scene.

“This is the first video in Kenya to hit one million views in a day,” he said. “I know we are now on the second day, but in that short time, Seti has made history.”

The song has stirred mixed reactions online, with many questioning Bahati’s artistic direction. Seti’s explicit video features provocative scenes and lyrics that sharply contrast with Bahati’s early image as a gospel artist, leading fans to debate whether the singer has completely abandoned his gospel roots.

Bahati, however, seems unbothered by the criticism. Bahati acknowledged that Seti had also set another record, becoming “the most disliked song in Kenya”.

This is the most disliked song in Kenya, hiyo record nimekubaliana nayo,” he admitted. “Wamepeana dislikes 17,000 na likes 17,000, inamaanisha kuna watu wana-dislike lakini chini ya maji wanaiwatch.”

Still, the singer maintained a confident tone, insisting that the backlash only shows people are paying attention, noting that more records were yet to come.

“Kama before hii wiki iishe, tutakua tumevunja recordi mingi,” he added. “The king is back. The GOAT is back!”
