Alex Mwakideu reacts to viral video of lady confronting relatives at a funeral

Alex Mwakideu has reacted after a video of a young Gen Z confronting relatives at a funeral went viral.
In the video, the girl spoke out during the burial of their mother, saying family members had failed to support her when she was sick. The emotional speech pointed out that relatives only showed up at the funeral but were absent when help was needed.
Mwakideu said he had received the video from several people who wanted him to comment on Gen Z behaviour. In his view, what happened was not wrong. He explained that Gen Z are not afraid to speak the truth and has no time for silence.

“Video ya mtoto mmoja, ni Gen Z, akiwa mazishi ya mama yake. Akawapiga reality wale relatives waliokua pale mazishi. Akasema, mama alipokuwa mgonjwa, tuliwaomba msaada hamkutusaidia,” he said.
Mwakideu praises Gen Z for speaking out
The media personality said this is not the first time such a case has happened. He noted that another young person had also spoken out similarly at a funeral. According to him, it now seems like a new trend among Gen Z.
However, Mwakideu praised the honesty, saying it is good that young people are openly addressing issues without fear.
He said the message was not meant to shame anyone but simply to give reality. “Wale walionitumia ile video wanasema ongelesheni Gen Z. Lakini mimi naona iko tu sawa. Haukuwa, unapewa reality tu. Mimi napenda vile Gen Z wanatunyorosha kwa hii dunia,” he explained.
In the video, the girl told mourners that their mother had been sick for five years but never missed treatment. She accused relatives of failing to offer support during that time.
“All these people who are sitting here, calling themselves family… the most you can do is say that Everlyn was suffering, but you have no idea the extent of suffering she was going through. Don’t come here to lie,” the girl said.
“The fact that I am saying what I am saying, I will not hold anything against anyone. But you can do better. Don’t stand here and say ‘we are with you’, you are not with us,” she continued.
Mwakideu insisted that Gen Z should not be silenced because they are only speaking facts, “Gen Z hawana hiyo time ya kimya. Atakupiga reality tu.”
