Thursday blackout to affect 5 counties

Kenya Power has announced a planned electricity blackout set to affect five counties on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

In a statement shared, the utility company cited routine network maintenance as the reason for the scheduled interruption.

In Nairobi County, the blackout will impact part of Garden Estate, specifically Garden Estate Road and adjacent customers. The power outage is scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Nakuru County will also experience an outage, affecting Majani Mingi and Testai. The affected areas include the whole of Majani Mingi Center, Sinendet, Testai, Kokwomoi, Majani Mingi Safaricom Booster, and surrounding customers. The blackout will last from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Kisumu County’s Nyamasaria area is on the list of affected regions. The power cut will span from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Nyamasaria, Molum, Jumbo Mattresses, Ndovu, Rabuor, Mega City, Ahero Girls, part of Ahero Town, and nearby customers.

In Kakamega County, the power interruption will occur in Kambi Mwanza and Shamberere. The specific areas include Kambi Mwanza Market, Shamberere Polytechnic, West Sugar, Ngavira Market, KWS, Kambiri Market, Eleho Market, Bulovi Market, and adjacent customers. The scheduled outage is from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Kiambu County’s Juja Mukinyi Road area will also be affected. The blackout will impact Kiaora Farm Estate, Mtaro Farm Estate, and surrounding customers, with the outage scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
