Youth brave cold and drizzle at JKIA awaiting Gachagua’s arrival
By David Nthua, August 21, 2025A group of youths have endured biting cold and drizzle at JKIA, awaiting the arrival of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua later in the day.
Speaking to the media, Mwangi Kibet, an official of the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) from Murang’a County, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, said that the nation is eagerly waiting to receive the king.
“My name is General Mwangi Kibet. I am an official of DCP from Murang’a County.
“We are here waiting for the arrival of the Mountain Kingpin, the party leader of DCP, the opposition leader currently and the 6th President of Kenya,” Kibet declared.
He accused government officials, particularly Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, of plotting to frustrate the return of Gachagua.
According to him, the administration is driven by “a bloated ego” and is unprepared for the groundswell of support Gachagua commands.
“What we want to tell the government, especially CS Murkomen, is that Kenyans are not ready to pamper your bloated ego.

“We are missing flights at Mombasa Airport, Kisumu Airport, Eldoret Airport, and every corner of this country. We know they have a plan to kidnap or abduct Rigathi Gachagua,” he stated.
Warning to President Ruto
Kibet further warned President William Ruto against repeating past actions that, according to him, undermined democratic freedoms.
He cited the invasion of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s farm in 2023 when livestock were stolen during Ruto’s trip abroad.
“We want to tell the president that anytime you leave this country, we remember what happened two years ago when the farm of former President Uhuru Kenyatta was invaded and sheep stolen. We will not allow such impunity again,” Kibet added.
Supporters at JKIA chanted pro-Gachagua slogans, insisting that the former deputy president remains the legitimate voice of the opposition and a unifying figure for the Mt. Kenya region.
As the day progresses, attention now shifts to whether Gachagua will be allowed to address supporters freely at the Kamukunji Grounds, where his allies have planned a mega rally.
