Police have arrested a woman after they found her in possession of deadly weapons, items she was carrying in her handbag.

The woman was carrying three hand grenades and four tear gas canisters, police said.

The 24-year-old woman, identified as Galmo Mohamed Galgalo, was aboard a Nanyuki Sacco vehicle en route to Marsabit from Moyale.

On Thursday, March 11, a statement released by the police revealed that a multiagency team, acting on intelligence, flagged down the Nanyuki Sacco vehicle at the Sololo-Makutani roadblock.

“Her final destination is yet to be established,” police said, adding that they found a number of videos in her mobile phone that “shows what looks like a militant in practice.”

The driver of the vehicle, Qalicha Godana, was also arrested alongside the 24-year-old woman and booked at the Sololo Police Station.

“She was nabbed in Marsabit and it is yet to be established why she was carrying the explosives and where she was headed to,” an officer privy to the matter said.

The officer said that the woman did not reveal the source of the weapons.
