Wamalwa: Wetang’ula has lowered Parliament’s dignity by backing Ruto’s ‘Tutam’ chorus
By William Muthama, October 4, 2025Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has criticised Moses Wetang’ula for lowering the dignity of Parliament by openly joining President William Ruto’s ‘two-term’ chorus.
Wamalwa made the remarks during a bullfighting event in Mihati, Malava Constituency, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, where he had teamed up with KNUN Chair Seth Panyako to rally support for the Malava parliamentary race.

Wamalwa argued that by publicly endorsing President Ruto’s push for a second term, Wetang’ula had compromised his role as a neutral leader in Parliament.
He said that instead of maintaining impartiality and upholding the dignity of the House, Wetang’ula had allowed himself to be drawn into partisan politics.
“You have degraded the Parliament of Kenya. You have lowered the dignity of the House,” Wamalwa said. “As a referee, you are supposed to remain neutral, manage the game fairly, and not jump with Farouk Kibet chanting ‘two-term, two-term.”

Turned into youth winger
Wamalwa accused Wetang’ula of allowing political operatives, including Farouk Kibet, to dictate his actions, saying such influence undermines the independence of elected officials.
“Wetang’ula has been turned into a youth winger, following orders to go to Malava, Bungoma, then Busia. Leaders we elect should serve the people, not be guided by operatives,” he added.

Wamalwa argued that such behaviour risks eroding public confidence in parliamentary leadership, particularly when leaders appear to prioritise personal alliances over institutional integrity.
He also slammed Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, claiming he was part of political manoeuvres undermining elected representatives’ autonomy.
Vote for dignity
During the event, Wamalwa expressed confidence in Panyako’s ability to beat David Ndakwa in the UDA primaries scheduled for November 27, describing the vote as an opportunity for the Luhya community to reclaim dignity in leadership.
