Six police officers are among seven people who were on Tuesday, March 9 nabbed in Wajir County for allegedly being involved in examination malpractice.
A police report reveals that the suspects were arrested after the police were tipped by a source of the suspects’ intentions to engage in exam malpractice at the Ereteno exams centre.
“The officers were acting on information from a source that there was exam malpractice for the ongoing KCPE 2021 at Ereteno exam centre. The officers proceeded to the exam centre where they arrested six officers in charge of exam security and the centre’s manager whom they took to Gurar police station for interrogation,” the police report said.
Police constables who were arrested following the incident include Rashid Mungai, John Orwa, Kombo Rashid, Dennis Kemosi, Alkano Dacho and Omar Suleiman.
The exams centre manager identified as Hassan Ali Mahaad was also arrested.
At the police station, the suspects’ mobile phones were confiscated as exhibits awaiting forensic analysis.
The seven are expected to be arraigned in court once the investigations being conducted by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation are over.
