When corporal Caroline Chemutai Kangogo was first accused of killing a police constable John Ogweno of Kasarani Police Lines, in Nakuru County, many thought the incident was just one of the many cases of love gone sour, that eventually resulted in murder.
But after she was linked to another murder of Peter Ndwiga Njiru in Kiambu, it was apparent that Corporal Kangogo’s killing spree is one of a kind.
In less than 24 hours, corporal Kangogo, a woman known to have lived a quiet life by her colleagues, suddenly turned to be a renowned suspected killer causing jitters among her close associates.
Appearing to target men, who she had a romantic affair with, Kangogo has cut an image common of actors in a thrilling crime movie.
But has police lodge a manhunt on her, many are yet to know who Corporal Kangogo is.

Corporal Kangogo was born on January 10, 1987, in formally Keiyo district, Tambach division in now Elgeyo Marakwet County.
She is the firstborn in the family of Barnaba Kipkoech Korir (father) and Leah Jepkosgei Kangogo (mother).
The 34-year-old is married to a senior police officer identified as Richard Kipkirui Ngeno with whom they are blessed with two children, a boy and a girl, aged 11 and 8 years respectively.
She began her education in 1994 at Nyawa Nursery School before she proceeded to Nyawa Boarding Primary school and later joined St Francis Secondary School.
She schooled for a year there before joining St Alphonsus Mutei Girls’ school where she sat for her KCSE exams and scored a C- in 2006.
She joined the National Police Service in 2008 and was admitted to Kenya Police College Kiganjo where she underwent her initial training before starting her official duties in 2009.
She went back to Kiganjo in 2014 for a corporal course that saw her promoted to the rank of corporal officer in 2015.
Kangogo has so far served in four police stations including P.T.C Mombasa, Kaloleni Police Station, K.P.C Kiganjo and Central Police Station in Nakuru where she has been serving since 2015.
According to Nakuru Police Commander Beatrice Karaguri, Kangogo has been good at her work and there is nothing telling about her work that can be linked to her recent killing spree.
Karaguri says none of Kangogo’s bosses has ever raised a disciplinary issue against her adding that their records show she was diligent in her duties.
“We have never had issues with Caroline. Her bosses have never reported any disciplinary issues about her and until now we are yet to understand what happened with her. Maybe there is an issue that is disturbing her mind because this is very unusual,” she said.
