Uhuru visits Raila’s grave in Bondo a day after burial
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday, October 20, 2025, visited the grave of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, his ancestral home in Bondo, Siaya County just a day after the national icon was laid to rest.
Uhuru was accompanied by Raila’s elder brother and Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga, alongside close family members and political allies.
The video shows the former head of state as deeply reflective as he stood before the flower-decked grave.
In a silent gesture of respect, he raised his hand toward the resting place of the man he once called brother and comrade in the struggle for Kenya’s unity.

Tribute of brotherhood
During Raila’s funeral on Sunday, October 19, 2025, held at his Bondo home, Uhuru delivered an emotional eulogy, reflecting on their decades-long friendship and partnership in nation-building.
“Jakom, we shall miss you as a leader of this nation. We shall miss your insights, thoughtfulness, wisdom, and laughter,” Uhuru said, his tone heavy with emotion.

He described Raila as a true statesman whose courage and sacrifice shaped Kenya’s democratic journey. Uhuru recalled that his own political path would have been incomplete without Raila’s influence, citing the historic 2018 handshake that restored calm after a tense post-election period.
“I do not have much to say today, as I already had the opportunity to eulogise my friend and brother at Nyayo National Stadium,” he added, sending his condolences to Mama Ida Odinga, the Odinga family, and the ODM Party.
Farewell to a legend
Raila Odinga was accorded a full State Funeral with a 17-gun salute, military honours, and national mourning. His farewell drew thousands from across the country, including President William Ruto.

After a long day of ceremonies that included a service at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology and burial rites, Kenya bid farewell to one of its most influential sons, a man whose vision, courage, and resilience defined generations.
Uhuru’s quiet visit a day later underscored the depth of their bond, a moment of personal reflection marking the end of an era in Kenya’s political story.
