Ugandan man arrested in Busia with AK-47 loaded with 30 bullets hidden in his trousers

A Ugandan national was on Monday night arrested in Busia County and found in possession of an AK-47 rifle that he had hidden in his trousers with a part of the firearm strapped on his chest.

John Chandi, 42, who hails from Tororo Kisoko location in Uganda, was riding on a motorbike which police tried to stop but the operator sped off. 

This prompted the officers to give chase to the motorcycle which had two pillion passengers.

“Police officers on patrol at 10 pm stopped the motorcycle but the rider sped off. They gave chase and managed to arrest one pillion passenger who was in possession of a gun,” said the statement filed at Andugosi Police Station. 

The police revealed that the firearm had 30 rounds of ammunition. 

The suspect is currently under police custody facing interrogation over his intended mission in Kenya.

The firearm has been kept as an exhibit.
