The County Assembly of Uasin Gishu on Tuesday, March 9 said it won’t vote for, or against, the BBI Constitutional Amendment Bill.

The regional Assembly becomes the only House among Kenya’s 47 counties to abstain from the vote.

Twenty-Seven (27) Members of County Assembly (MCAs) voted to adopt a report by the Delegated Legislation Committee that proposed abstinence, against 19 ward reps, who rejected the suggestion.

Prior to today (Tuesday, March 9), 43 county assemblies had voted to pass the BBI Bill against three, which opposed the proposed constitutional changes. The three regional Houses that opposed BBI are Nandi, Elgeyo-Marakwet and Baringo.
