Two robbers shot dead after attempting to escape arrest

Two suspected robbers were today shot dead while the other two managed to escape after a shoot-out along the Thika superhighway.

According to a police report, the two who were on a motorcycle were cornered by police on DR Griffins road behind Pangani police station after they positively identified the motorcycle they were riding on.

It is reported that before their shooting, the four robbers had at gunpoint robbed a lady who was on foot along Agoi road. They allegedly blocked her using the two motorcycles before removing a gun and took off with her phone and gold earrings all valued at Ksh100,000.

The lady reported the matter to the Pangani police station alerting the officers who immediately swung into action.

“A crack team comprising officers drawn from Pangani and DCI Starehe closed into Pangani shopping centre in search of the motorcycles. Officers spotted one of the motorcycles along Thika superhighway and a chase ensued. The robbers were cornered and a serious shoot-out ensued. They managed to fatally injure two robbers,” part of the police report read.

After the incident, they recovered one black revolver loaded with six rounds of federal, 38 special, one bajaj boxer motorcycle, one brown pen knife and four mobile phones three of them touch screens.

Their bodies have since been moved to the city mortuary awaiting identification and post mortem.
