Fatal road accident claims two lives on Southern Bypass

Two people have been killed and others seriously injured in an accident along Southern Bypass near Ole Sereni Hotel, Nairobi County.

The fatal accident occurred at 6.30 am on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, when two trailers collided head-on.

Confirming the incident, the National Police Service Spokesperson Resila Onyango said the driver of an Isuzu FRR reg no KCX 282N driving from Kikuyu direction lost control and collided with an oncoming trailer.

The police spokesperson further said that the two drivers died on the spot while the trailer caught fire and the driver burned beyond recognition adding that three other passengers from the vehicles were seriously injured.

According to the updates posted on the Kenya Red Cross official X account, the three injured passengers have been taken to the hospital for further treatment.

“Update: Three people have been taken to hospital, thanks to the efforts of a multi-agency response team,” Kenya Red Cross said.
