Kenya Power has announced a temporary blackout that will affect seven counties on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
In a statement shared on Monday, July 22, 2024, the utility company cited routine network maintenance as the reason for the temporary outage.
In Kiambu County, the affected areas include Thindigua, Kigwa Farm, Paradise Lost, Muhasibu, Kwaheri Road, Fourways Junction, Bar Next Door, and adjacent customers. The power outage is set to occur from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
In Makueni County, the blackout will impact Wote from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Areas to be affected are Sarova Market, Kiatine Primary, Kilala Market, Ukia Market, Mukuyuni Market, Kyambalasi Market, Kivani Market, Kilyungi Market, Kitundu Market, and Kali Market, along with adjacent customers.
Nakuru County will see power interruptions in Kiamunyi and Mercy Njeri areas from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Specific locations affected include Kiamunyi, Olive Inn, Baraka Estate, part of Ngata, Zaburi, Muiru Center, Mercy Njeri, Makiki Bore Hole, Madrugada Farm, London, part of the Industrial Area, Soilo, and adjacent customers.
In Uasin Gishu County, Kamukunji and Block 10 will experience a power outage from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The affected areas include Kamukunji Estate, Tabetaclan, Kibulgeny, Block 10 Estate, and adjacent customers.
Kisii County will have two areas affected: Nduru and Nyamarambe, and part of Kisii Town. The blackout will last from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Affected locations include Nyamarambe Market, Nyamarambe Hospital, Nduru Boys, South View Academy, Etago, Ufanisi Hotel, Storm Hotel, Ram Hospital, Kisii Central Police Station, Kisii Huduma, KTRH, Kisii County Assembly, Kisii Safaricom Office, Kisii Blood Bank, and adjacent customers.
In Nyeri County, the power interruption will affect Kabebere and Kihuri from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Affected areas include Gathunguri TBC, Waihara, Thokoni TBC, Kihuri, Kabebero, Githimbai TBC, Karega TBC, Kiandemi, and adjacent customers.
Murang’a County will experience outages in Pundamilia and Ndera from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Areas affected include the whole of Punda Milia, Makuyu Girls, Ndera, Kihara Primary School, Mihango, Kiambamba, Kariani Secondary School, Kayole, Kivingoni, Mananja and Mananja Secondary, Kasovelo, Marura, Ciumbu, Huhoini, Njuca Farm, Ndera Water Pump, Mihango, Mithini, Kaguku, Assumption Sisters Hospital, Ndithini Mission Hospital, Ndithini Level 4 Hospital, Kietineni, Ndovoini, Kirimiri, Makuyu Boys, and adjacent customers.
