TSC announces 9,159 vacancies to replace teachers who exited service

The Teachers Service Commission has announced it is seeking to recruit at least 9,159 teachers to fill vacant positions left due to various attrition in the authority.

In a notice issued on the latest MyGOV issue dated Tuesday, November 25, 2025, TSC issued a detailed procedure on how to apply for the positions, warning against scammers.

“The Teachers Service Commission is declaring 9,159 vacancies to replace teachers who exited service through natural attrition,” TSC noted.

TSC confirmed it is seeking to recruit at least 7,065 teachers for primary schools, 12 posts for junior schools, and 2,082 posts for secondary schools.

Meanwhile, TSC has confirmed that all 9,159 teachers will be absorbed on permanent and pensionable terms of service.

“7,065 posts for primary schools, 12 posts for junior schools, and 2,082 posts for secondary schools. The teachers recruited will serve on permanent and pensionable terms of service,” TSC said.

To qualify for recruitment, a candidate should meet the following minimum requirements: Be a Kenyan citizen; Must be a holder of a minimum of a P1 certificate.

In the case of primary schools and a minimum of a diploma in education in the case of junior schools and secondary schools, interested applicants must be registered teachers with the Teachers Service Commission.

Mode of application

Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the Teachers Service Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, under ‘Careers’ or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke, not later than December 8, 2025, at midnight.

Details on available vacancies per county or school are on the Teachers Service Commission’s website: www.tsc.go.ke.

The Teachers Service Commission Recruitment Guidelines for the 2025/2026 financial year shall apply. Merit lists generated during this recruitment for both primary and secondary schools will be used in subsequent recruitment processes within the financial year.

On the other hand, TSC has maintained that shortlisted candidates will be required to present original academic and professional certificates, and successful candidates must not fill out more than one Application for Employment Form.

TSC further warned that filling out two or more Application for Employment Forms will lead to disqualification. Meanwhile, manual applications will not be considered.

Likewise, TSC has revealed that preference will be given to applicants who have not previously been employed by the Teachers
Service Commission. In addition, all successful candidates will be posted to serve in any part of the country and not necessarily in the county or school where they were interviewed.

Similarly, TSC maintained that the recruitment exercise is free of charge, warning applicants against fraudsters who might extort money from unsuspecting persons purporting to assist in recruitment.
