Tetu MP dismisses Raila-Ruto allied MPs’ meeting as scheme for 2027 re-election

Tetu Member of Parliament Geoffrey Wandeto has, in black and white, said that the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, the latest Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)–United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Parliamentary Group meeting, alongside the ten-point agenda, is all about the 2027 mathematical game plan by President William Ruto and ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Wandeto regretted that Kenya is not short of legislative laws. He said that what the country lacked was goodwill and honest leadership.
Political marriage ahead of 2027
According to Wandeto, the political partnerships being shaped through the NADCO report and reinforced during Monday’s PG are not designed to cure Kenya’s economic and governance problems but rather to craft a smooth path for President Ruto’s re-election bid.
“This whole NADCO report, even the PG of yesterday, is about less and less about the country and more and more about 2027.
“This is a political marriage which is not designed to heal the ills in the country but create a vehicle of capturing the power and ensuring the re-election of President William Ruto in the 2027 poll,” Wandeto stated.
The legislator argued that the ten-point agenda and NADCO proposals offer little new substance, as the Constitution and existing laws already provide frameworks to deal with corruption, economic challenges, and accountability.

“If you look at the NADCO report and the ten-point agenda, we are lacking nothing in terms of legislation to address the rising issues,” he noted.
Goodwill is lacking
Wandeto further observed that the past year had demonstrated the absence of goodwill among the ruling class.
He insisted that despite the many opportunities to address Kenyans’ pressing concerns, the government and its partners had chosen politics over solutions.
“If you look at things that have happened in the last year, it shows a lack of goodwill,” he added.
His remarks come only a day after the much-publicised PG meeting in Karen, where MPs from ODM, UDA, and allied parties endorsed the rollout of the NADCO framework and the ten-point agenda.
Critics like Wandeto believe the forum was more about cementing political alliances ahead of 2027 rather than tackling unemployment, the high cost of living, or public service reforms.
Wandeto urged leaders to shift focus back to Kenyans’ immediate needs instead of using bipartisan agreements as tools for electoral survival.
