Detectives attached to Lang’ata Police Station on Monday arrested two male suspects believed to have been on a crime mission.
The two suspects are said to be targeting fitness enthusiasts who jog along Lang’ata and Mbagathi roads, early in the morning and late in the evening.
According to a report shared by DCI, one of the suspects identified as Peter Omweno Momanyi, 24, had dressed as a woman.
It is Omweno’s appearance that led officers, who came across the two suspects, to doubt their mission prompting the detectives to order them to stop for interrogation.
The two, however, declined to heed the order and took to their heels but the officers swung into action and arrested Omweno and his accomplice; 25-year-old John Muchiri Kimani.
“One of the officers who arrested them had noticed there was something amiss with the appearance of the suspect. He turned back and ordered them to stop but they defied the orders and took to their heels.
“Unbeknownst to the thugs, they had just encountered the lanky, young crime busters based at Langata Police Station, whose speed and proficiency in chasing after thugs are unsurpassed,” reads in part the report by DCI.
DCI say the two were arrested past Mbagathi bridge where they recovered crude weapons suspected to be tools of crime.
The two suspects are currently held in custody pending arraignment.
DCI urges members of the public who have lost their valuables to the two thugs to file a report at Lang’ata Police Station so that they can act on the matter.
