Sunday blackout to affect parts of Nairobi and 6 other counties

Kenya Power has announced a planned electricity interruption expected to affect parts of seven counties on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

In a notice issued on Saturday, November 22, the utility company said the outages will allow for essential network maintenance and upgrades.

In Nairobi, the interruption will affect the Cotton Avenue area from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The outage will stretch across Cotton Road, part of Dennis Pritt Road, Kayawe Road, Galana Road, part of Argwings Kodhek Road, Ring Road Kilimani, part of Lenana Road, Chania Avenue and Wood Avenue. Other affected locations include part of Kirichwa Road, Adlife Plaza, East Lands Hotel, the French School, Yaya Centre, Prestige Plaza, Mugo Kibiru, Moi Girls Kibera, Toi Market, Woodley Estate, Jamuhuri Estate, Togo Flats, part of Suna Road, part of Ngong Road, Toi Primary School, Ola Petrol Station and Naivas on Argwings Kodhek Road. The interruption will also stretch to Joseph Kangethe Road, parts of Kindaruma Road, Nyeri Road, Mwingi Road, Othaya Road, Kaptei Gardens, Gatundu Close, part of Tende Drive, Apple Close, Kabaserian Avenue, Chalbi Drive, Kangemi Waruku, Lavington West, Njumbi Road, Muthangari Police, Kanjata Crescent, Muthangari Road, Oloitoktok Road, Riara Road, Siaya Road, Dikdik Gardens, Kileleshwa Police Station, Mandera Road, Mugumo Road, Mageta Road, Isaac Gathanju, Lavington Shopping Centre, part of Gitanga Road, Elmolo Drive, Masanduku Lane, Maji Mazuri Avenue, Ndoto Road, Makini School, Jacaranda Avenue, Ole Dume Road, Menelik Road, Adams Arcade, Marakwet Road, Elgeyo Marakwet Road, Kilimani Road, Ndemi Road, Koibatek Springs, Migori Road, Githunguri Road, Laikipia Road, Olenguruone Road, Valley Arcade and James Gichuru Road together with nearby customers.

In Machakos County, the Katani area will be affected from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The outage will impact Shajanand, EPCO, Shangilia, Seme, Kambi, Blowplast, Kutchi Road, Greatwall Apartments, Rim House and surrounding customers.

In the Central Rift region, part of Nakuru Central Business District will be without power from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Areas to be affected include part of Moi Road, Nuru Palace, Sakinya Motors, Regena Hotel, Central Police, the National Library, Moi Flats and the Seventh Day Adventist Church together with adjacent users.

In Uasin Gishu County, the Biocorn and Steel Mills areas will experience an outage from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. Eldocraft, Kidiwa Estate, Mwanzo Estate, Majengo Catholic Church and Our Lady of Assumption School will also be affected.

In Kisumu County, several locations will be hit by long and short outages. Kibos Prison, Tamuwa, CIBO, White Coal, Sugar Research, Gita, Kajulu Water and Got Nyabondo will be off from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. Muhoroni Town, Agro Chemical, Homaline, Koru Town, Tamu, Awasi Town, AFC, Muhoroni Factory, Songoh Market, Ziplin Factory, Golden Bricks, Gogni Quarry, Stone Field, Prime Steel and Rock Land Quarry will be interrupted from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. Holo, Kombewa, Kolenyo, Akado, Reru, Ngere High and Bar Korua Girls Boarding will face a shorter outage from 9.00 am to 11.00 am. Chiga Market, Kasese, Land Matope, Masawa, Kalusi, Rweya, Obumba and Achuodho will be off from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.

In Kisii County, Kiabusura and Motonto areas, including Nyagoge Girls, Kiabusura, Motonto, and Nyagancha Dispensary, will be affected from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

In Kilifi County, parts of Matsangoni will be off from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The outage will affect Mpenda Kula, Matsangoni, Mkiringi, Uyombo, Gede, Mida, Roka and Mkangagani alongside nearby customers.
