Suluhu makes history as first female Tanzania president

Samia Suluhu has broken the glass ceiling after being sworn-in as Tanzania’s first female president on Friday morning, March 19.

The 61-year-old leader, who served as the late President John Magufuli’s deputy, is also the first woman to become president in the East African region.

Suluhu was sworn-in at State House, Dar es Salaam at 10 am.
