Parliamentary proceedings on Thursday came to an immature end after Speaker Justin Muturi adjourned the sitting following “unruly” behavious by the Members of Parliament.
The session began with Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi presenting what she calls “evidence” to prove that Deputy President William Ruto is a land grabber as she had previously claimed.
Presenting the so-called evidence was in line with a directive by Speaker Justin Muturi.
As the MP stood to table the documents she carried on a suitcase, the MPs from Ruto’s side kept interrupting forcing the Speaker to allow the MP to just table the evidence without reading them.
This did not sit well with MPs allied to Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya alliance who accused the Speaker of partiality.
In the process, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino “shouted” at the Speaker and made “immature” remarks.
“We are here to debate maturely. I order you out of the Chambers,” Muturi told Babu.
The MP, however, refused to leave the Chamber, causing the Speaker to adjourn the sitting under Standing Order number 112.
“Standing Order number 112 says in the event of the grave disorder, arising in the House, the Speaker may adjourn the House forthwith or suspend the sitting for a period to be determined by him or her.
“I deem there is a grave disorder. We are not able to continue,” he ruled.
